Glass Graal Blank Vase
Project Description
At Illinois State University, I got flexibility in choosing my courses. Having an open course slot, I decided to take a glass blowing class. Having seen videos online, I was intrigued with the process and wanted to try it out for myself. In this course, I learned a difficult glass blowing technique called a graal blank. For this process, I had to pick up a piece of color glass on a hot blow pipe and blow it out into a small cup. When the glass cooled, I made cuts into it before heating it up and repicking it up on a blow pipe. Then I got to blow it out into a design. My design went a little wrong and somewhat collapsed, but with help, I got to save it. Honestly, even with the difficulty of this process, I think the vase turned out super cool with its bubble like effect.
