Project Description

When I was learning to use the camera in my photography course, my class was tasked with a light assignment, aiming to practice the different methods of lighting a subject. For this project, I wanted to use glass, as its a material that interacts with light in a unique and beautiful way. Through the process of shooting this assignment in the light lab, I found myself entranced by the way the light would play on the glass, the way the light just highlights all the imperfections that reside in the material. In art, lighting is everything, it’s what gives a work dimension and creates contrast against a background, its essential for form and 3D figures, so redefining lighting in a new way was refreshing.
